Englewood Health Family Birth Place

Englewood, New Jersey

A concept supporting quality.

Adapting to change for a better experience.

Through meetings and workshop discussions during Haskell’s women’s services study, our team identified several priorities for the project: increasing size and support space in clinical areas to meet current licensure requirements, separating patient volume, improving aesthetics, expanding services, and converting to all private post-partum patient rooms. In addition, current trends in obstetric care suggest a rise in Cesarean deliveries and inductions, resulting in longer patient recovery and labor rates, both of which directly impact facility size.

Renovation to the two-floor Family Birth Place relocated existing clinical and support services to improve adjacencies and allow for necessary expansion. As part of the process, we developed a schedule for occupancy and a phased renovation approach to maintain operational integrity during the construction process.

Finish upgrades and new millwork added to existing patient rooms, corridors, nurse stations, and support spaces create a welcoming environment for post-partum services. Use of natural wood tones and a calming neutral and blue color palette helps encourage a calm and peaceful environment. Custom designed patient headwalls include concealed medical gases. Rolling side tables increase flexibility.
