Giancarlo Benedetti’s eyes light up, and his voice takes on an extra level of excitement when he talks about earthquakes. Same for punishingly high winds. And heavy snow. And hurricanes, tornadoes and tsunamis.

Benedetti, Lead Structural Engineer in Haskell’s Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Group, enjoys a challenge. And as he seeks to hire both a Project Structural Engineer and Senior Structural Engineer for his team, he speaks from experience when he says that Haskell offers opportunities unavailable elsewhere.

Earlier in his career, he gained experience at both smaller design-only firms and a large, full-service Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) company, such as Haskell. The smaller firms didn’t offer the same variety of work or international scope. And while the other large AEC concern did, it segmented its engineers into regions and pushed them one homogeneous project after another.

Haskell checks all the boxes.

“Haskell is a big firm with projects throughout the United States and beyond, and you get a chance to work everywhere in the country, which is kind of a dream come true for structural engineers,” Benedetti said. “You get exposed to high seismic, to high wind, to heavy snow, to hurricane regions, to tornado regions. Now we have new provisions in the codes that call for tsunami design for facilities that are near the west coast of the United States. It’s all very interesting.”

Benedetti’s team is based in offices throughout the U.S. The Project Engineer opening is open to professionals with five to 10 years of experience from virtually anywhere in the country. For the Senior Engineer, who should have 10 or more years in the profession, Haskell is seeking someone who can anchor its West Coast Region, which comprises offices in Salt Lake City and Livermore and Irvine, California.

Even though they are geographically diverse, Benedetti said, members of the Structural team share a great sense of camaraderie.

“We have a lot of people who are very passionate about structural engineering,” he said. “When we get together to talk about technical stuff, it's fun."

In addition to providing a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, Haskell operates with the direction of six strategic pillars, the first of which is to “Provide Team Members the BEST Job of Their Lives.” It offers a robust benefits package that includes a 401k match and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), which creates stock ownership for every full-time team member.

Consumer Packaged Goods is the largest of Haskell’s delivery groups and serves as a longtime partner to many Fortune 500 companies and some of the world’s leading brands. The list of clients and the magnitude of projects continue to grow by the day.

“It's a fast-paced, growing business right now,” Benedetti said. “We're getting a lot of work in CPG given the rebound of the economy, and we're looking for talent at all levels. Our approach right now is to keep the doors open. We need to keep bringing in top talent.”
