For those with an interest in learning and practicing with international operations, Haskell offers an exciting opportunity for career and personal growth.
It’s not common to equate accounting and adventure, but Haskell has an open position that can borrow from the time-honored recruiting slogan and be billed, “Join Our Accounting Department, See the World!”
With offices in Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region, a presence in more than a dozen countries outside the United States, Haskell is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to work with its overseas operations. The position doesn’t need to include travel, but it certainly can.
“I've gotten to travel to Mexico and the Philippines and Malaysia,” said Molly Keifer, Haskell Director and Assistant Controller. “I’ve had the chance to meet people in different cultures around the world. It’s interesting – culturally we're different, but we’re very much the same because we're tied together through accounting principles.”
A growing company with nearly 2,200 team members overall, Haskell has accounting personnel in those various countries. The U.S. accounting team numbers 25 to 30 and has purview over transactions conducted throughout the world, including Singapore, Canada, Jamaica and other Caribbean islands.
In the senior staff role, the successful candidate will handle intercompany accounting between countries, work with foreign currencies, and have foreign research and reporting responsibilities.
Candidates should have an accounting degree and five or more years of experience, and while international knowledge is a plus, it’s not a prerequisite. Keifer said she and her team could teach the international nuance, supported by Haskell’s Learning, Development & Engagement team, which was just honored with the top global ranking in Training Magazine’s APEX Awards Rankings.
In addition to career growth, the Senior Staff Accountant position offers opportunities for career advancement. Haskell is expanding quickly. A leader in design-build project delivery, Haskell serves many global clients inside and outside the U.S. and is working toward global diversification so that 20% of its revenue is derived internationally. So,
“If you’re someone who has an interest in international operations, know accounting and are looking for different growth opportunities, there is a ton of potential,” Keifer said. “We can teach the international part. Realistically, accounting is not that different in Malaysia than it is in the U.S.”
In addition to providing a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, Haskell operates with the direction of six strategic pillars, the first of which is to “Provide Team Members the BEST Job of Their Lives.” It offers a robust benefits package that includes a 401k match and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), which creates stock ownership for every full-time team member.
