Responding to expanding engagement with a prominent winemaker and growing demand from startups in the fast-growing alternative proteins industry, the manufacturing team in Haskell’s West Region has created an immediate opening for a Senior Process Engineer.

The position is challenging and fast-paced, and that’s exactly why Senior Process Associate Candice Kofsky recommends it so highly to the right candidate.

“I can tell you what I like about the job, which is the variety,” Kofsky said. “There's nothing the same day to day. It's new engaging work. It tasks your creativity, and, to me, it keeps the juices flowing. There's a lot of intellectual curiosity. We get a lot of satisfaction out of helping our clients come to a solution that they may not have known existed.”

Variety comes in a number of forms. A Senior Engineer at Haskell, Kofsky said, takes a higher-level view of projects than can be the case with other engineering firms.

Much of the expanded role owes to the company’s integrated nature. As a design-build firm, Haskell, ranked the No. 1 Food & Beverage Manufacturing Contractor by Engineering News-Record, employs engineers across the disciplines who work collaboratively to create best-in-class client solutions.

“We work cross collaboratively with other groups, so you’re looking at the project holistically with other senior level team members to make sure that we're capturing the full design intent that the customer's looking for,” she said. “It’s a broader role than just performing engineering calculations, so we’re looking for someone who has more of a big-picture point of view. The position requires the ability to maneuver the different nuances of a project and recognize when we need to involve other disciplines.”

In addition to collaborating with colleagues, the Senior Process Engineer will lead and mentor a team of up-and-coming engineers, working in an office design setting and on the production floor and counseling clients – particularly startup clients.

“This person needs to be flexible to meet the needs of our clients, especially in the startup environment,” Kofsky said. “It would be ideal to have someone who enjoys working with customers that are still designing their processes, collaborating with them, counseling them and working together with the customer to achieve the needed design.”

“That’s in the startup world. In the wine and spirits and traditional food and beverage, the work is a little more steady, but some customers still give us a lot of creative license, and it’s a good feeling working with a customer who trusts us and relies on us. At the end of the day, we get recognition from the client of a job well done when they come back to us for more work. The reason we're hiring for this position is that we are seeing customers returning to us more and more to provide them reliable solutions to their expanding business needs.”

In addition to providing the highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, Haskell operates with the direction of six strategic pillars, the first of which is to “Provide Team Members the BEST Job of Their Lives.” It offers a robust benefits package that includes a 401k match and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), which creates stock ownership for everyone who is full-time.
