If you have experience writing proposals to procure federal government work and want to take your career to new heights, Haskell’s opening for a Senior Proposal Manager may be an ideal fit.

The position offers remote work, so geography is not a factor for the right candidate, who will create and manage proposals for Haskell’s Federal Design team, based in its St. Louis and Oklahoma City offices, to compete primarily for Department of Defense (DOD) work.

“It's a position for somebody who wants to be energetic, who wants to go places,” said Terry Karras, Vice President and Director of Federal Marketing for Benham, a Haskell Company. “It'll be great for a person who has the ambition to go further than where they start. The sky's the limit.”

Federal experience is essential because of the structured nature of the government procurement process. As a participant in many indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contracts, Haskell submits Standard Form 330 (SF330), used by Federal agencies to determine architecture and engineering firms’ qualifications, to compete for work. Most are about 100 pages long.

Also, the Senior Proposal Manager will take part in identifying opportunities using online tools, establish the proposal schedule and craft the differentiating submission. Once the SF330 is submitted and our team has been selected for a contract, the government will issue task order request notifications (TORN) asking for additional information, which require timely responses.

“Our proposals are pretty straightforward, and they always follow the same pattern, but it’s not cookie-cutter,” Karras said. “You’ve got to change your projects; you’ve got to change your people; you’ve got to figure out what will set our team apart and get us selected for this contract.”

Benham, which Haskell acquired in 2016, has worked with the federal government since World War II and currently performs a variety of design project types, including operations facilities, communication centers, satellite and other high-technology facilities, hangars and dining halls.

Even though the position can be remote, all Haskell companies provide a highly collaborative environment and operate with the direction of six strategic pillars, the first of which is to “Provide Team Members the BEST Job of Their Lives.” It offers highly competitive pay, a robust benefits package that includes a 401k match and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), which creates stock ownership for every full-time team member.

“Historically, the majority of people who start with Benham stay with Benham,” Karras said. “I've been with Benham for 32 years. We have people who came to us out of college and retired here. It’s the challenge, it's the company, and it’s the people you work with. Haskell has been the same way.”
