Marketing Specialist Will Help Winning Team Grow in Charlotte Market
Haskell has an immediate opening for an experienced marketer to create targeted, competitive proposals and grow their career with a fast-growing firm.
With recently completed projects poised to capture awards and numerous exciting and high-profile facilities in the works, Haskell’s Municipal & Education division is on a roll. To keep pace, the Marketing team in Haskell’s Infrastructure & Transportation Group is seeking a Marketing and Proposal Specialist to support its expansion in the Carolinas and Mid-Atlantic regions.
The ideal candidate will have two or more years of proposal-writing experience, preferably in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry.
While the position focuses primarily on creating proposals, which requires a combination of journalism and persuasive wiring, it also includes video production, event management and other presentations. For each opportunity, the Marketing and Proposal Specialist leads a team to create a complex proposal to describe in precise detail how Haskell’s facilities solution is the superior solution for the client.
“This role combines an ability to communicate effectively with a love for puzzles,” said Judy Deshler, I&T Director of Marketing. “It’s all about discovering what matters to a client and relating that to how we can help them succeed. Every day we ask ourselves, ‘Why is this client going to pick us?’”
That right person will be joining a winning team. Haskell’s Municipal & Education team has projects underway, such as:
- The Jacksonville Jaguars Performance Center, on which it is the construction manager at-risk (CMAR)
- The one-of-a-kind Florida Museum on Natural History Special Collections Building, a design-build project in Gainesville, Florida
- The American Leadership Academy of Applied Technologies in Mesa, Arizona, another CMAR project
“The pursuit of the work can be nearly as rewarding as actually winning the job,” Marketing Manager Dan Sandler said.
“I think one of the biggest benefits Haskell brings over any other place I've worked is that it's truly a collaborative team environment,” Sandler said. “We work together, and we support each other. You always have an expert to talk to who is happy to give you the information you need for a successful proposal.”
Haskell has expanded significantly in recent years, and its Charlotte office, long the headquarters of its Healthcare design, consulting and construction divisions, has been fortified to service other markets and customers.
“Haskell has always been a creative and entrepreneurial environment,” said Charlie Rocheleau, a Haskell Vice President who leads the Charlotte office. “Yes, we deliver design and construction, but most importantly, we deliver facilities to support our communities. At the core, it all comes from a spirit of creativity, entrepreneurship and passion. So, we are looking for people who aren’t afraid to get creative and be open to new ideas.”
As part of a fast-growing company in a changing industry, the Marketing and Proposal Specialist position also offers the chance to acquire skills and build a career. Proposals are increasingly leveraging high-end video production, and high-tech industry tools, such as Building Information Modeling, also play a role.
“There will be interesting things to work on while growing as a marketing and proposal specialist,” Deshler said. “It’s a great opportunity for someone with a couple of years of experience to move to an expanding company with a vast opportunity for professional growth.”
In addition to providing a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, Haskell operates with the direction of six strategic pillars, the first of which is to “Provide Team Members the BEST Job of Their Lives.” It offers a robust benefits package that includes a 401k match and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), which creates stock ownership for every full-time team member.
