Haskell offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to lead the design, sourcing, integration and commissioning of large packaging systems.
Overseeing the design and creation of vast packaging systems in state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities is the industrial equivalent of conducting a symphony. Haskell has an immediate opening for such a conductor, which, in the Manufacturing Solutions world, translates to the Engineering Manager – Packaging Integration.
“The ideal person is someone who is strong in design and strong in project management,” said Bela Jacobson, Vice President of Automated Manufacturing Systems. “They've got a good technical background and understanding of how to execute technical projects, but they also understand how to manage the customer’s scope, cost, schedule, and most importantly – risk.”
“Also, they're not just managing the team on the project that’s delivering for them, but they're also supervisors to help mentor younger engineers who are not necessarily on their projects. So, there are many aspects of this position. I talk about that a lot in interviews to make sure that I'm very clear: You're not going to be listening on Spotify; you are going to be leading the orchestra.”
Haskell has been Engineering News-Record’s No. 1-ranked Food & Beverage Manufacturing Contractor in two of the past three years. With all architectural, engineering and construction disciplines in-house, it is a fully integrated facilities provider that’s able to address clients’ project needs from concept to turnkey delivery, startup and commissioning.
Packaging Engineering Managers lead the design, sourcing, integration and commissioning process. The position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with the desire to fully engage their professional abilities.
“I think there's the rush of the excitement of delivering something amazing,” Jacobson said. “It's rewarding to see something you're responsible from start to finish. You price the job. You communicate with the customer. You make decisions. You work with the vendors. You coach the junior engineers. You have total ownership responsibility, and it feels good to be the owner of what you deliver.
“I think also, a lot of experienced people at this point in their career want to mentor younger engineers, teach them what they know and help them with best practices and see them succeed.”
The position offers opportunity for professional growth. Haskell is increasingly undertaking projects in the half-billion-dollar range on behalf of some of the world’s foremost producers, so visibility and interdisciplinary collaboration come with the territory. Further, as a creator of bespoke and best-in-class solutions, Haskell approaches each challenge anew.
“I think something that is always attractive about our roles is that we have such a variety of customers and variety of problems that we're solving,” Jacobson said. “It's a different problem with every customer, different even with the same customer on different projects. So, people who like problem-solving and being curious and taking initiative is the type of people who are a great fit.”
In addition to providing a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, Haskell operates with the direction of six strategic pillars, the first of which is to “Provide Team Members the BEST Job of Their Lives.” It offers a robust benefits package that includes a 401k match and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), which creates stock ownership for every full-time team member.
