Creating a premier women’s experience.

Center of excellence provides solid care.

As a component of our comprehensive master planning engagement, Haskell completed a study to determine the facility requirements to meet fast-growing regional demand for women’s services. Our team analyzed four options, with the primary consideration locating all post-partum beds on a single floor. Operational considerations included improving patient satisfaction through enhanced education and communication initiatives, streamlining registration and discharge processes, expanding triage to improve efficiency and balance staffing levels, and empowering patients by offering both LDR and single room maternity care options.

As a significant component of the master plan implementation, the expanded women’s center is one of two Centers of Excellence that anchor the new North Pavilion. The 31,400 sf fourth floor addition includes 24 LDRs designed in suites of four. Each room features special cabinetry for TV, built-in CD player, family belongings, and a daybed. The floor also contains an eight-bed labor triage unit. Renovated space houses a 20-bed antepartum unit, a 21-bed GYN unit, and additional women’s services.

The 29,000 sf third floor addition consists of 40 Level II/III NICU bassinets grouped in semi-private suites of two and arranged around central support. Each bay contains a staff charting area, separate nourishment room (accessible to families) to contain noise, and lactation room for pumping. Each bay provides direct access to Dillard Park, sibling play areas, and chapel.

Adjacent to the new unit is a suite for the Ronald McDonald House. It includes dayroom, computer alcove, play room, meditation room, and kitchen. Next to the Ronald McDonald House are three transitional care sleeping rooms for parents preparing to take their babies home.
