Diversity, inclusion, equity and other factors are crucial to mental health. The practice of 'see something, say something' is crucial if something's amiss.
Construction Safety Week is about more than personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tag out and STCKY (Stuff That Can Kill You). Mental health and the importance of a psychologically safe workplace are equally important.
An inclusive and representative workplace or job site where everyone is treated with mutual respect should be a given. If it is not, anyone and everyone should be encouraged to raise their voice to improve the situation, and their concerns and ideas should be received with genuine acceptance.
Is the workplace equitable, and does everyone have opportunities based on individual needs rather than equal needs? (Everyone needs work gloves – when you give everyone gloves, that’s equality. Everyone needs work gloves that fit them and are correct for their tasks – that’s equity.)
Today’s video addresses these and other “brain matters” as Haskell encourages all team members to embrace the Total Worker Health concepts that consider social, economic, and environmental concerns on and off the job.
Promoting and expanding diversity and inclusion is a strategic pillar of Haskell’s long-term vision and is foundational to creating a team member experience of significance, success and satisfaction. Haskell Together is our intentional and consistent initiative to promote open dialogue and bring about positive change.
