Muller-Quaker Dairy Yogurt Processing Facility

Batavia, New York

This major design-build, greenfield facility is home to a new line of yogurt from Muller-Quaker.

To launch a new line of yogurt products in the U.S. market, Muller-Quaker Dairy required a specialized processing facility capable of delivering efficiency, scale, and full regulatory compliance. Haskell designed and built a 330,000-square-foot operation that brings every critical function under one roof, from raw milk receiving to finished product storage and distribution.

The fully-integrated project delivers operational efficiency at multiple levels.

The facility combines milk processing, culture development, filling, packaging, palletizing, and warehousing to support a seamless production flow. Supporting infrastructure, including a guardhouse for site security, a 25MW dual-feed substation for reliable power and a wastewater pretreatment plant, reinforces continuous operation while protecting the environment. Site improvements, such as expanded parking and upgraded roadways, ensure smooth logistics and workforce movement.

Designed to meet stringent sanitary standards, including those of the PMO, FDA and USDA, the facility aligns with Muller-Quaker’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality yogurt products to consumers. Regulatory compliance is built into every stage, reducing risk and supporting efficient approvals and audits.

Haskell drove Muller-Quaker’s ROI by delivering the finished product millions of dollars under budget.

Haskell delivered an integrated design and construction services project from start to finish, encompassing site selection, detailed design (architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, civil and other disciplines), construction management, steel fabrication, refrigeration and warehouse logistics. Delivered under budget, the project refunded millions of dollars to the owner, strengthening the overall return on investment. The addition of a dedicated fire pump house enhances site resilience and worker safety. This comprehensive approach ensures long-term value and a facility built for reliable performance today, with flexibility for future expansion.
