Our largest clients never attended a project meeting. They weighed 8,000 pounds.
Thirty-five retired performing Asian elephants needed more than a place to live. They needed a habitat that would let them be elephants again.
At White Oak Conservation in Yulee, Florida, Haskell helped transform 2,500 acres into one of the most ambitious elephant habitats ever built. Forests. Wetlands. Grasslands. Interconnected waterholes. Specialized veterinary facilities. More than 10 miles of fencing.
And it had to be built without disrupting the environment it was meant to protect. Our teams innovated to further sustainability, reduce equipment movement and shave installation time by 30%, saving approximately $20 per linear foot.
Family Day at Haskell Steel brought team members and their families together for a look inside the shop and the work that happens there every day.
The event featured guided tours, equipment displays, activities for kids and plenty of time to connect outside the workday. It gave families a chance to see the processes and craftsmanship behind the steel fabrication that supports projects across Haskell.
“I have been in this industry for most of my kids’ lives, and this was the first time I have ever had the opportunity to show them what I do,” said Steel Fitter 1 Braxton King. “It made me proud. I`m grateful for that.”

Before the first bottle could move down the line, Haskell’s project team had to solve what was happening below the slab.
In Zacoalco de Torres, Jalisco, Haskell delivered a 468,230-square-foot bottled water production and distribution facility for Niagara Bottling, creating a strategically located hub that brings production, packaging and distribution operations together under one roof.
The project site presented significant geotechnical challenges, including soft soils and projected settlements exceeding 40 centimeters without ground improvement. Simultaneously, the team coordinated complex utility systems, integrated high-speed production infrastructure and maintained an aggressive 12-month construction schedule.
Designed for immediate operational readiness and future expansion, the facility supports multiple high-speed bottling lines and serves as a key anchor for Niagara Bottling’s Mexico distribution network.

This week, Haskell welcomed its ninth annual high school internship cohort to the Jacksonville headquarters.
Over the next six weeks, 14 high school interns representing schools across Northeast Florida will gain hands-on experience in the AEC industry through mentorship, industry learning sessions, active jobsite visits and career-focused activities. Interns will also participate in this year’s Haskell Renewed Day of Service Project, a community-focused initiative that gives students the chance to apply what they’ve learned while making a positive local impact.
The internship provides an opportunity for students to explore careers in the industry and gain a better understanding of the paths available to them in the future. Our teams introduce the next generation to architecture, engineering and construction management and can’t wait to see what this group accomplishes.

Five Haskell team members recently returned from the Groundbreaking Women in Construction Conference in San Diego, a premier leadership conference hosted by Engineering News-Record dedicated to advancing women across all roles in the construction industry.
Two full days of programming included sessions on topics such as optimizing career trajectories, quality management in design-build infrastructure projects and building inclusive teams in difficult environments.
Haskell Director or Talent Acquisition Meredith Adragna was one of five panelists during a session titled “Unlocking Innovation: The Business Case for Neurodiversity,” which drew their real-world insights to recognize conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia as a spectrum, and highlight how neurodiverse individuals contribute to increased creativity, innovation and productivity.
Assistant Project Manager McKenna Connell said the GWIC environment created “a real sense of relatability.”
“Speakers from a variety of roles in construction shared very raw and real stories that not only humanized the work we do but also emphasized the impact that having a diverse and representative workforce can make,” she said. “These events are not meant to show face or throw around supposedly inspiring buzzwords; they are a real opportunity to uplift each other and the industry as a whole.
“A recurring theme of the event is that while being a woman in construction today may be seen as a novelty, it will someday become the norm - and all of us are helping that become reality!”

Haskell partnered with the City of Jacksonville to deliver the Riverfront Plaza and Northbank Bulkhead project, a multifaceted effort supporting downtown revitalization along the St. Johns River. The work included stabilizing the northern bulkhead with an 800-foot sheet-pile system and concrete cap, while also advancing improvements that transform the waterfront into an active civic space.

It takes more than standards and enforcement to support a culture of safety on a project site with more than 300 workers, but Haskell Safety Coordinator Tie Zamble did just that in Madagascar.
For the site`s first full Safety Week, Zamble mixed workers from nine companies into teams that crossed every trade and employer. Painters competed as one, and cleaning staff lined up alongside craft professionals. A week of hands-on training and competition, plus fire-extinguisher training from local Antananarivo firefighters, reinforced one idea: Safety is for everyone.
The site has logged no lost-time, no injuries and roughly 425,000 work hours.

How does winning a coin flip in high school mark the start of a career? Former Golden Hammer Award recipient David Hargraves can tell you.
Before becoming Production Superintendent at Haskell Steel, Hargraves spent years learning the ins and outs of the operation. He worked in a variety of roles on the shop floor, earning his welding certificate and his college degree with support from the Haskell team.
It’s been over a decade since he earned Haskell’s Golden Hammer Award for his carpentry skills in the NEFBA trades program in high school. Yet, he still recalls this period of his life as the foundation for his current career and role at Haskell Steel.

This week, Haskell welcomed its Summer 2026 intern cohort during the company’s Intern Onboarding at the Hilton at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
More than 140 members of the summer cohort of 159 interns took part, representing 13 Haskell offices and more than 50 colleges and universities globally. The week provided an immersive introduction to Haskell’s people, projects, culture and project delivery lifecycle.
After a kickoff breakfast with Haskell executive leadership, including Chairman and CEO Jim O’Leary, President John Paul Saenz and CHRO David Thaeler, the interns participated in enterprise and project delivery overviews, leadership roundtables, communication and collaboration workshops, DISC personality assessments, professional development sessions and hands-on learning experiences designed to prepare them for a successful summer.
They also toured Haskell’s new headquarters and the Haskell Steel fabrication shop, exploring the latest innovations in construction and planning concepts.
We’re excited to officially welcome this talented group and look forward to watching them learn and grow this summer.

From intern to full-time Event Specialist, Stella Humberg’s Haskell journey has come full circle.
Stella started with Haskell as a Corporate Marketing intern in 2022. Today, she helps bring events to life from months of planning and vendor coordination to day-of details like guest experience, accessibility, wayfinding and keeping the fun on schedule.
At the Wasatch Curling Invitational supporting Utah’s National Ability Center, Stella gave us a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to create meaningful moments for Haskell’s clients, partners and vendors.

The Golden Hammer struck again at this year’s Clay County Construction Trades Brunch, where students, educators and industry partners came together to recognize outstanding achievement in construction trades programs across Clay County, Florida, Schools.
Hosted by Haskell, this annual event celebrates students pursuing career and technical education pathways in carpentry, drafting, engineering, electrical, HVAC and welding. It also allows students to learn more about construction careers, apprenticeship programs and long-term opportunities in the skilled trades.
The Golden Hammer Award is awarded to the top carpentry/building trades student at each participating county high school, honoring both technical skill and professionalism. This year’s recipients were Avery Rhoden, Middleburg; Gabe Taylor, Orange Park; Xavier Day, Ridgeview; Trey Rhodes, Clay; Nicolas Moreno, Fleming Island; and Milo Rosario, Keystone Heights.
The Drafting/Engineering Award recognizes students developing the design and technical skills that support construction planning and execution. This year’s recipients were Addison Harp, Middleburg, and Dylan Mazerac, Orange Park.
The Electrical/NEFBA Award recognizes achievement in electrical trades education and connection to apprenticeship pathways. This year’s recipient was Deaclan Finch, Middleburg.
The HVAC/NEFBA Award recognizes achievement in heating, ventilation and air conditioning trades education and connection to apprenticeship pathways. This year’s recipient was Charles Powell, Ridgeview.
The Torch/Welding Award recognizes achievement in welding and skilled fabrication. This year’s recipient was Eliajah Dennis-Thomas, Orange Park .

The Worldwide Distilled Spirits Conference (WDSC) highlights the vital role science, technology and innovation play in shaping the future of brewing and distilling. For Haskell’s Beer, Wine & Spirits team, those principles are always on tap.
Haskell Strategic Industry Advisor Phil Morgan and Senior Director of Project Development Tony Smith traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland, for four days of high-impact sessions, cutting-edge research and industry insight focused on the future of spirits.
Phil and Tony visited local distilleries and heard from world-class experts, including leaders from Scotland’s Heriot-Watt University, on topics ranging from wash fermentation for whisky production to the future of brewing and distilling. They also had the chance to visit historic Edinburgh Castle and the Tartan Weaving Mill.
As product quality, efficiency and consistency become increasingly driven by science-led processes, staying connected to the latest fermentation research and distilling innovation is essential to delivering high-performance facilities for clients.
Insights from the conference strengthen Haskell’s ability to design and deliver facilities that support more efficient, consistent and scalable production environments.
