Meat Processing Facility & Distribution Center

Lancaster, Texas

A popular fast-food chain entrusted Haskell to help grow their Texas production quickly.

Since opening their first Texas location in 2011, a confidential fast food client now serves the region from 36 storefronts. This rapid expansion meant that they needed a full-scale facility to house their operations, warehouse, and processing operations – quickly. The company chose Haskell, a trusted partner, to design and build their processing facility and distribution center in Texas.

Haskell utilized design-build project delivery to execute a turnkey, greenfield facility.

Our client had a smaller patty processing plant in Adler, Texas, to support their stores in the region. As their market share grew, they decided to expand in the Lone Star State. The new facility included a main building and three support buildings, built on a fully developed, 20-acre greenfield site in the Southpointe Industrial district of Lancaster, Texas.

We also provided design and construction for the industrial wastewater pretreatment plant that was required to achieve the permitted limits before the wastewater from production could be discharged into the municipal sewer system. The wastewater treatment facility included screening, equalization, chemical adjustment and dissolved air filtration (DAF) units.

The site scope consisted of car and tractor trailer parking, concrete paved drive lanes, and loop roadways for fire department access. The 126,000-square-foot main building is highlighted by 27,000 square feet of high-end meat production and 4,200 square feet of liquid processing which work together to produce fresh product for delivery to nearby stores. The production areas are enveloped by stainless IMP panels, urethane flooring and stainless processing and sanitation equipment.

An expanding brand now has world-class distribution services.

To comply with the culture and corporate identity, this project was full of opportunities to achieve a very appealing facility within budget and of course following all food safety standards. Typical with their state of origin in California, the owner envisioned a Southern California façade with a Spanish style theme. The stainless industrial facility is juxtaposed by a Spanish themed administration office, featuring textured stucco exterior, clay roof tile and arched colonnades, all focused around a large circular turret at the main entry. The level five interior includes plastered walls, arched corridors and porcelain tile; accented by architectural wood beams and solid walnut doors.

Haskell’s partnership with this growing fast food provider continues to grow.

This project marked Haskell’s second venture with this client. We previously worked with them on a brownfield warehouse and product exchange center expansion in California. We’ve enjoyed playing a part in the company’s continued expansion.
