Eight startups are redefining construction with groundbreaking new materials. See who is competing for major backing at CRH Ventures Pitch Day.
Eight finalists will vie for investments of up to $5 million during Pitch Day, the culmination of CRH Ventures’ third accelerator for Sustainable Building Materials, to be held March 5 and 6 in London.
Haskell’s innovation arm, Dysruptek, is one of five companies across the construction ecosystem partnering with CRH Ventures, the CVC fund of Dublin-based CRH, one of the world’s leading building materials and solutions suppliers.
Finalists were chosen from applicants focused on finding scalable solutions to lower CO₂ emissions, better embrace the principles of a circular economy and/or deliver greater energy efficiency.
“The accelerator has helped to surface some promising innovations in the materials space that are both going to lead to more sustainable practices and more efficient construction in the future, “said Cutler Knupp, Haskell Vice President of Strategy and Technology Investments. “It’s exciting seeing the continued emphasis on innovation, not only just the construction execution, but the materials science side, too.”
The finalists are:
CHASM Advanced Materials - Developing and manufacturing advanced carbon nanomaterials to create a safer, more connected and sustainable world.
Cocoon Carbon - Developing a process that turns industrial waste like steel slag into sustainable cement while capturing CO₂.
EnviCore - A growing technology company offering innovative and sustainable byproduct treatment solutions.
Enzymatic - Creating environmentally friendly concrete additives that substantially reduce CO₂ emissions.
Material Evolution - An ultra-low carbon cement from industrial byproducts.
Mimicrete - An advanced materials science startup, developing novel self-healing concrete.
Neocrete- Re-engineering concrete to make it regenerative, resilient and carbon neutral.
PHNX Materials - Refining the 2.5B tons of U.S. landfilled coal ash into valuable end-products.
“The eight finalists are all making a significant contribution to the future of sustainable construction technology and we’re looking forward to showcasing their work, said Eduardo Gomez, Head of CRH Ventures said. “The successful startups chosen at our Pitch Day Event will get the opportunity to partner with CRH Operating Companies to pilot their innovative solutions.”
The pitch event will be held at London’s iconic 180 Studios. Other accelerator partners are Arup, AXA XL, Climate Investment (CI) and Construction Venture by Bouygues Construction.
