As Rent the Runway’s business grew rapidly, they utilized Haskell to help with facility expansion.
A clever concept turned into a bustling business almost overnight when Rent the Runway (RTR) emerged as an affordable option to rent designer clothes for special events. As business took off, RTR needed to expand its operations to a second location and chose an existing facility in Arlington, Texas. In order to speed up their shipping time and increase their inventory availability, RTR needed to convert the existing empty shelf facility into a distribution fulfillment center. They turned to Haskell for help.
The project scope included the installation of new operations equipment and some facility upgrades.
Haskell installed a pick-module, including all automated conveyance within that module for garments to be loaded and moved to a three-tiered mezzanine for cleaning and storage between rentals. In addition to conveyance, we helped set, install and connect all the washers, dryers and steam tunnels needed for the garment cleaning process, as well as the utility systems needed to support that process. Haskell also constructed a boiler room and installed an inbound/outbound equipment boiler. A few small modifications were made to the facility structure along the way to accommodate the new layout and utility needs.
The end result was Rent the Runway’s first fully-Automated facility.
We are proud to have helped RTR complete its first-ever fully automated facility. Having a facility like this will allow them to increase their efficiency and sales year over year. Our team helped incorporate technology into their facility which will allow them to further increase the processing of garment returns and have more available inventory options for their clients in the future.
