’60 Years of Haskell | Built to Last’ Celebrates the Company’s History
Join a cast of past and present team members as they revisit the milestones that mark the growth of Preston Haskell III's dream into a global AEC leader.
Preston Haskell’s dream became reality in 1965, and the company that bears his name celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.
“For all of my life, I had wanted to start my own business,” Preston Haskell III said. “I was encouraged to do so by my father. I had always wanted to make design-build the centerpiece of our company.”
Design-build was a rarely used alternative to the typical design-bid-build delivery method of creating large capital projects in 1965. Many who tried to practice it failed to reach the level of integration that would set Haskell apart.
“The other contractors would hire an outside architect and engineer and try to integrate those with his own company,” he said. “We, on the other hand, had people in-house in all of the disciplines, repeatedly working on projects for Haskell and repeat customers, and making for a much more effective delivery process as a result.”
In celebration of the milestone, Haskell proudly presents the retrospective “60 Years of Haskell | Built to Last.” The production features interviews with nearly 20 past and present team members. It mixes their rich memories and perspectives with compelling archival footage to trace the company’s path from its beginnings to its present standing as a global AEC leader.
“We use the term ‘Built to Last,’ and that’s what we’ve worked so many long years to get to,” said Jim O’Leary, Chairman, CEO and President. “All the things that we’re doing for our customers across the world, integrating design and construction, being innovative and driving technology, having a diverse workforce, continually growing and achieving greater heights. It’s never been in a better position to continue to succeed and grow and prosper. The opportunities ahead of us as a company are just phenomenal.”
