Division Leader - Power Delivery Design
Background & Experience
Izu Mbata serves as Power Delivery Division Leader at Haskell, where he leads market strategy, technical governance, and execution across transmission, substation, and distribution infrastructure programs. Since joining the firm in September 2025, he has focused on scaling a disciplined Power Delivery platform built on technical rigor, operational accountability, and sustainable growth.
With more than a decade of experience in utility-scale engineering and EPC delivery, Izu has led multidisciplinary teams across high voltage infrastructure projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV. His experience spans transmission development, greenfield substation delivery, brownfield expansions, distribution modernization, and renewable interconnection infrastructure including collector substations, battery energy storage systems, and utility scale solar integration.
He has directed complex capital programs, overseeing design governance, system integration strategy, constructability planning, procurement alignment, and field execution. His leadership ensures transmission and substation programs are delivered with technical integrity, schedule certainty, and financial discipline.
Izu’s focus is advancing grid reliability, expanding system capacity, and positioning utilities and developers for long term infrastructure modernization.
Education
Izu holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Montana State University and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri Kansas City. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Missouri and New York and is certified as a Project Management Professional.
Professional Affiliations
Izu is an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Power and Energy Society and the Project Management Institute. He previously served as an IEEE Region 5 mentor and PES scholarship reviewer.
Personal
Based in Houston, Texas, Izu is active in his local church and community. He enjoys mentoring youth, visiting recreational parks with his family and spending time with his three sons, particularly through soccer.
