Many of the world’s most recognizable consumer brands gain a substantial competitive advantage by relying on Haskell to design and build their production facilities. Ranked No.1 by Engineering News-Record (ENR) in Food & Beverage Construction and No. 7 in Manufacturing, Haskell is known for its exemplary and expeditious project delivery.

No position is more vital to project success than its Senior Design Manager, who leads all design disciplines, bears responsibility for conformance to corporate standards for design documents and ensures that the project is seamlessly executed.

“Our customers are driven by the need to get their products to the market,” said Peter Skirbst, Vice President and Group Operations Principal for CPG Facilities Architecture and Engineering (AE). “Much of what we do is on a fast-track basis, which means that designers have to understand how to make the right calls even though they may not have all the information. It’s something of an art form as well as a science.”

Coming off a year of record sales, Haskell’s Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Group is seeking experienced design management and coordination professionals interested in becoming Senior Design Managers with an employee-owned company where team members work together for the benefit of clients and each other.

Senior Design Managers lead and support all designers on a project, including engineers from the civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing disciplines, as well as project architects and, when applicable, process, packaging and material-handling integrators.

Analytical thinking and excellent communication skills are vital in successful candidates, who will oversee a variety of areas, including client management, construction support, change management, financial planning and monitoring, schedule coordination, and strategy development and execution. Haskell’s collaborative approach involves all parties throughout the project. It offers numerous delivery models, including design-only, design-build, progressive design-build and Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC).

“At this level, communication skills are of primary importance,” Skirbst said. “Being able to communicate with the customer, with our internal teams, with the rest of the design team to get their ideas across and keep the project on track is critical, and that all comes down to effective communications.”

Guided strategically by a six-pillar document called Haskell 2025, the company is dedicated to the cornerstone pillar to “Provide Team Members the BEST Job of Their Lives.” This manifests in various ways including matching 401k contributions and our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

Candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture, 10 years of progressive experience in a design discipline, including five years as an independent lead designer and a minimum of four years of design management and coordination on large-scale projects.
