Montana Wells Lives the Values with Excellence and Positivity

Being a process project engineer requires technical skills and precision; for Montana Wells, a positive attitude and sense of humor are his unique contributions to the role.
“I tell people, ‘I am Montana from Washington, Oklahoma,'” Wells said. “It usually gets a smile, and it’s all true.”
“My dad liked Montana as a first name, like an old Western character or sidekick. So, between the name and where I grew up, I’ve had fun with it.”
That sense of humor is only part of what made him stand out. In nominating Wells for Haskell’s Living the Values Award, Process Design Associate George Williams highlighted Wells’ consistency, integrity and commitment to supporting the team.
“Montana’s positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile help create an environment where teamwork thrives,” Williams wrote. “He brings fun to the table, which makes the work more enjoyable, and he is always true to his word. He acts with honesty, makes decisions that reflect Haskell’s values and is a trusted resource who keeps learning. You can bring him a problem and know he will work with purpose, collaboration and care to find a solution.”
Away from work, Wells keeps a full schedule with his wife, Anna Marie, their two young children and a range of service and outdoor interests. He has volunteered through Big Brothers Big Sisters and Haskell’s Beyond School Walls program, and he enjoys paddleboarding and visiting national parks.
“Being with my family comes first,” Wells said. “I am grateful to be in a place where that feels supported, both at work and at home.”
Wells has worked for Haskell in Jacksonville, Florida, for nearly eight years since graduating from Oklahoma State University in 2018. During that time, he has built experience in data collection and food and beverage production, including work supporting In-N-Out Burger as the company expanded beyond its traditional western U.S. footprint.
“They’re a great client and deeply committed to the quality of their products,” Wells said. “That level of detail carries through behind the scenes, not just in the restaurants. The work became especially complex during COVID, and I learned so much during that time. Working closely with that organization made me a better engineer.”
Wells said he sees a similar commitment inside Haskell, where the Living the Values program recognizes employees who consistently demonstrate the company’s core values of Team, Excellence, Service and Trust.
“At Haskell, I get to learn across a wide range of technical areas, so the work is never boring,” Wells said. “A culture of excellence is part of the fabric here. It is one of the first things you notice. I have always tried to recognize the people who make the company work, so receiving this honor myself was not on my radar. The response from everyone has been overwhelming in the best way.”
