Jacksonville needed specialized heart care in the heart of downtown.
Building Baptist Health System’s new Heart Hospital presented challenges beyond the unique intricacies of crafting a facility specializing in heart care. The site was a fully functioning — and very busy — hospital that was constrained by both urban development and the mighty St. Johns River.
Haskell quickly began taming the project’s many challenges.
The project scope included more than a 200,000-square-foot addition for heart surgery, cardiac diagnostics and patient care. It incorporated an additional 20,000-square-foot emergency room renovation, six-level parking structure and freestanding helipad. Each part needed to come online within cost and schedule expectations and without disruption to the hospital’s current operations.
We delivered a state-of-the-art heart facility to Jacksonville residents.
Haskell’s proven project management approach ensured on-time delivery — well within cost and schedule expectations, and with little disruption to the existing hospital’s operations and services. Complex problems led the team to creative solutions such as the design and construction of an elevated, freestanding helipad over the patient drop-off area.
