Haskell's deep connections with the Design-Build Institute of America continue as two more professionals meet the organization's rigorous standards.
Design Director Tommy Willis and Senior Architect Chris Bunal recently joined the long list of Haskell team members to complete the Design-Build Institute of America’s (DBIA) comprehensive education and certification testing program and achieve the design-build industry’s highest designation as a nationally certified Design-Build Professionals®.
Two to six years of substantial, documented direct project experiences in design-build project delivery experience is an additional prerequisite for Designated Design-Build Professional® certification.
DBIA Certification is the nation’s only measurable standard of an individual’s knowledge of the Design-Build Done Right® principles vital to successful project delivery. By completing these requirements, which touch on all aspects of design-build, candidates earn the right to display “DBIA” after their names, identifying them as experienced design-build professionals.
Haskell is one of 13 original members of the DBIA, which this year is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Founder Preston Haskell III was a driving force behind the organization’s formation, served as its first chairman and helped drive its mission of advocating and promoting design-build delivery and developing and establishing best practices. Haskell is the only company to have had four team members serve as chairs – Preston Haskell, Steve Halverson, Jim O’Leary and Pete Kinsley. Haskell and Kinsley are among the organization’s 37 Fellows.
“DBIA’s Designated Design-Build Professional™ certification program has grown exponentially over the years, mirroring the growth of the entire design-build industry,” said Lisa Washington, DBIA Executive Director and CEO. “In fact, many public and private owner solicitations now expressly encourage the inclusion of team members with DBIA® Certification in their expanding number of design-build projects. DBIA is proud to offer the industry’s gold standard in education and to continue to certify record numbers of dedicated design-build professionals each year.”
DBIA offers certification in design-build project delivery to owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, project managers, legal professionals and academics. Maintaining the credential requires at least 24 hours of continuing education credit every two years.
