Discover how Haskell’s training team partners with vendors to equip crews with cutting-edge construction technology skills through hands-on learning events.
Keeping pace with quickly advancing jobsite technology, Haskell’s Construction Core – Technical Training team, in partnership with Dysruptek and local vendors BuildingPoint Florida and Hilti USA, conducted a three-day training event for Haskell Permanent Craft Employees (PCEs) at the company’s corporate locations in Jacksonville, Florida.
The first two days, presented by BuildingPoint Florida, targeted skills development on the Trimble Robotic Total Station (RTS).
The first day featured training and hands-on familiarization with the RTS. The second day consisted of eight hours of hands-on simulation using three separate systems to maximize on-equipment time. This hands-on portion included RTS layout and logistics, data collector and field-link software functions, layout and as-built data collection, and offset creation. Each participant – the crew comprised three craft workers, two foremen and an assistant superintendent – operated equipment in multiple exercises.
Hilti USA kicked off the third day, introducing participants to new technologies and software that included Bluetooth Concrete Sensors use, Silica advanced dust-collection tools, Jaibot Semi-Automatic Drilling equipment, and the Exo-Skeleton lifting apparatus, which provides ergonomic support for strenuous lifting, particularly over the head.
Dysruptek, Haskell’s venture arm dedicated to scouting, piloting and investing in emerging technologies, concluded the three-day training event by demonstrating the HERO (Hazard Elimination Risk Oversight) jobsite safety assessment to all the participants, including Tim Mosley, C-Core’s manager of field personnel. HERO leverages Oculus Quest Headsets to provide a virtual jobsite environment, and the participant is tasked with identifying as many jobsite hazards as possible. This new technology, developed by the Dysruptek team, will pave the way for future training opportunities in jobsite safety and beyond.
