Haskell delivered modern and resilient infrastructure for military personnel in the Bahamas. 

Haskell partnered with NAVFAC Southeast to deliver the P-720 Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Austere Quarters and Administrative Facility on Andros Island, Bahamas. This 28,705-square-foot complex comprises a one-story, 4,665-square-foot Administrative Building and a two-story, 24,040-square-foot Living Quarters. Designed to meet Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) standards and sustainability guidelines, the facility replaces outdated housing with modern accommodations tailored to the tropical environment.  

The new facility enhances living conditions and improves operational efficiency.

The facility provides military personnel with 44 fully furnished living units designed for comfort and functionality. Energy-efficient utilities and thoughtfully integrated amenities, including common areas, a commercial laundry facility and upgraded telecommunications infrastructure, enhance the quality of life for residents. These features promote connectivity and operational readiness, ensuring the facility meets the needs of those stationed at this remote location.  

Innovative construction solutions overcame the challenges of a tropical island location.

Construction in a tropical, hurricane-prone location required innovative solutions. Precast concrete walls and ceilings were selected to ensure resilience against corrosive coastal conditions and extreme weather. The facility’s design was meticulously adapted to meet barge shipping constraints, with component sizes and layouts optimized for transport. These measures underscore Haskell’s expertise in overcoming logistical and environmental challenges while delivering durable infrastructure. 

Sustainability features reduce the environmental impact and ensure long-term efficiency.

The facility incorporates eco-friendly technologies to minimize its environmental footprint and ensure long-term efficiency. Sustainability features include a solar domestic hot water system and low-flow plumbing fixtures, which reduce water and energy consumption. Designed per UFC 1-200-02 High Performance and Sustainable Buildings guidelines, the facility supports the Department of the Navy’s sustainability policies while maintaining resilience and functionality in a demanding setting. 

Effective logistics management ensured timely delivery despite remote challenges.

Andros Island’s limited infrastructure required a highly coordinated logistics strategy. All materials were transported via barge from Miami, with Haskell managing the supply chain through collaboration with brokers, customs agents and designated ports. Private docking solutions were secured to mitigate delays caused by mission-critical operations, ensuring the project was delivered on schedule and with uninterrupted execution.
