Values aren't just statements on a wall. See how they come alive in the way people connect, build trust, and form lasting impressions.
Vacations with her husband, Haris Hodzic, to some of America’s most beautiful and famous national parks – Grand Teton in Wyoming, Acadia in Maine, Yosemite in California – have made an impression on Haskell HR Operations Specialist Amina Sabotic.
“Going to these parks really makes you feel small and lets you understand what’s around you,” Sabotic said. “It’s beautiful. Yosemite was something. We enjoyed the waterfalls and hikes, even though I was in sneakers and not hiking shoes. Still, that trip was the most memorable because of the views and the wildlife.”
She brings the exact appreciative nature to her profession, in which she is often new team members’ first impression of Haskell, and her continuous effort has earned her the Living the Values Award, given quarterly to those who personify the company’s core values of Team, Excellence, Service and Trust.
“When it comes to trust, Amina is rock solid,” wrote her nominators Ally Steeg, Jordan Provencher and Aaron Simpson. “She’s dependable, transparent, and always follows through on her word. Whether she’s leading a search or helping a teammate, you know she’ll show up and give it her all.
“Amina doesn’t just talk about values, she lives them daily, and Haskell is better because of her.”
Sabotic said she reveled in meeting and welcoming people from different walks of life. She started her Haskell career in 2022 as a corporate recruiter and recently transitioned to a role as an HR Generalist.
“I don’t take the responsibility lightly,” she said. “I understand that I may be the candidate’s very first impression of Haskell. That’s a heavy weight on myself to present the best version of myself and who we are. I really do think that makes a difference.
“I enjoy talking with people and seeing how I can help them out. Recruiting spoke to me because I get to help people find their careers. I make an effort right away to show I’m not transactional, but I’m invested in their interests.”
Sabotic continually gets the sense that this one-on-one touchpoint carries throughout the organization. People frequently call her by name as she walks the headquarters hallways, including many whom she has helped settle into their roles.
"It just happened the other day while I was sitting outside in the lobby," she said. "Three people walked up and greeted me, and I recognized their names immediately as those I recruited. They mentioned that it was their first week and they were excited. That was very rewarding."
