Eddy Fazly, the Project Architect in Haskell’s Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia, office, dedicates himself to clients by day, even if that means the day runs a bit long. Because when he leaves work, Fazly’s focus is on his family.

“Maintaining a strict boundary between work and home life ensures that family remains the cornerstone of my existence,” Fazly said. “If there’s an important task at hand, I will make sure to stay at the office to complete it. I’d rather go home late than do work at home, within my family sanctuary”

Growing up in Taman Keramat, not far from Haskell’s Malaysian office, Fazly enjoyed drawing cartoons and believed his skills were suited to architecture. He developed a love for the field during six years of study at Universiti Teknologi MARA and graduated with a bachelor’s in architecture.

“When I graduated, I decided to learn different views of an architect by involving myself with different types of projects such as residential, commercial, infrastructure and even theme parks,” he said. “After more than nine years, I found the opportunity to work with Haskell. I was interested in the new challenges in Haskell’s projects.”

Fazly, who joined Haskell in February 2020, provides building design and collaborates with various engineering disciplines. He is well-versed in local code requirements up to building completion and offers expertise in overcoming development issues while also joining the Business Development team in communicating with clients.

Working with the Haskell team on manufacturing projects using the engineer, procure, construct (EPC) delivery method was new to Fazly, but he said the challenge helped him grow professionally.

“That point of view was totally different, and my experience guided me to become a better architect,” he said. “I want to make sure my skills and experience help Haskell to become a better-known company in Malaysia.”

Visiting Haskell’s headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida, and meeting an entirely new set of colleagues was a highlight of his first five years with the company.

“As someone who has seldom traveled, it was an unforgettable experience,” he said. “It introduced me to the bigger Haskell family, and I even visited some of Haskell's projects there. I never imagined myself coming to the U.S.”

Back home in Kuala Lumpur, Fazly has many interests outside his career. First is his family – his wife, Nurhanis, and their children, Adam Danial, Aisya Dalila, Amal Danish and Anas Darwisy. He also enjoys watching and playing basketball, is passionate about trading card games and creates toy reviews and other content for his YouTube channel.

“I take a quote from somewhere that I saw before – ‘Everyone has the same 24 hours, but how you spend it differs you from others,’” he said. “You can do whatever you want if you have the passion, which helps me understand how to manage my time well. Generally, on weekdays, I will be spending most of my time working, but at the end of the day, family time will always be my moment especially to make sure my kids get the attention that they require. On the weekend, mostly it is family time, but when most of them go to sleep, I will be focusing on my hobbies and content creation.”
