Design Director - Refrigeration

Background & Experience

Doug has been designing, operating and constructing industrial refrigeration and process cooling systems since 1991 and joined Haskell in 2024. As the leader of Haskell’s Refrigeration Engineering group, he directs projects for Bakery, Dairy, Food and Beverage clients, ranging from small private businesses to large multinational operations. Doug brings over 30 years of experience in both brownfield and greenfield projects, working across the U.S. and globally, which has allowed him to support a diverse and international client base.

Doug has managed the planning, cost development and scheduling of food and beverage projects, overseeing all phases of refrigeration design, construction, installation and operational testing to ensure compliance with functional specifications, recognized codes, standards and customer requirements. He has led teams in equipment selection, system startup, troubleshooting and project execution, while maintaining clear communication among project teams, clients, subcontractors, and vendors. Notable projects include a 250,000 SF design-build French fry processing facility in American Falls, Idaho, which featured a structural steel frame with IMP skin, an internal precast concrete mezzanine, and full installation and commissioning of process and utility systems, including refrigeration, steam, compressed air and power infrastructure.
