Growing manufacturing and business operations for a global aerospace leader.
When looking for a partner to design-build a new facility dedicated to the assembly of nacelle components and propulsion system integration, Collins Aerospace turned to the experienced team of Haskell. One reason? As the eighth manufacturing facility on the Alabama site and with Airbus as a client, it was essential that the advanced manufacturing facility come online as scheduled without disrupting existing operations.
Haskell delivered time-tested reliability and certainty to the project.
The new 80,000-square-foot facility features a range of innovative manufacturing technology, including automated large material movement down the assembly line and an automated painting system. The advanced systems greatly increase operational efficiency as well as offer ergonomic benefits for employees. The facility also includes 15,000 square feet of supporting office space.
Advanced manufacturing paired with planet-friendly operational strategies.
Haskell provided design-build services, construction project management and self-performed foundations installation and structural steel fabrication for the facility. The new manufacturing environment, completed in about one year, earned LEED Silver certification. In addition to advanced manufacturing, the facility boasts modern water saving strategies such as rainwater harvesting for reuse in grey-water systems; light pollution reduction; optimization of energy performance; and use of renewable energy.
