Baptist Clay Medical Campus Tower and CEP

Fleming Island, Florida

The Baptist Clay Medical Center expansion and renovation was a direct response to Clay County’s growing population.

Clay County’s rapid growth created a rising demand for high-quality, accessible healthcare, and Baptist Clay Medical Center was ready to meet the moment. Partnering as Construction Manager at-Risk (CMAR), Haskell delivered a forward-thinking solution designed for today’s patients and the community’s future needs. The result is a transformative $135.5 million expansion that converted an existing emergency and surgical imaging footprint into a state-of-the-art, six-story hospital offering 100 new patient beds. The expansion also introduced a modern central energy plant (CEP) to support long-term operational efficiency and continued growth.

A project built for progress and crafted for what comes next.

The tower brings a full continuum of care in one modern space featuring labor and delivery suites, NICU services, critical and intermediate care, surgical and emergency departments, and streamlined pre-admission and registration areas. The project also refreshed portions of the existing facility and added two floors of shell space to support future growth. All construction was completed while the hospital remained fully operational, thanks to careful coordination and adherence to ICRA guidelines that ensured safety and minimized disruption to patient care.

Present improvements were created with scalability in mind.

With increased capacity, improved flexibility and a streamlined operational layout, the modernized facility is positioned to scale with confidence. The successful outcome of this project showcases how Haskell will work alongside clients to solve complex problems and improve performance.
