TechWeek Message: Early Integration is Key to Outcomes and Quality

Haskell team members joined two separate panels during TechWeek Internacional 2026 in Mexico City, but they imparted one message: Mexico’s next generation of critical infrastructure will be delivered by integrating design, construction, equipment and commissioning.
In each conversation, they stressed the importance of bringing the people, systems and decisions that govern quality and constructability into the project early, before they become schedule constraints in the field.
Turning Data Center Specifications into Operating Facilities
On the panel “Global Synergies in Critical Infrastructure: From International Specification to Local Execution,” Haskell Project Controls Analyst Moisés Corral discussed the gap between a data center’s design intent and the work required to build, test and commission it in Mexico.
The question is not simply whether an international specification can be brought into the country, Corral said. It is whether the project team can translate that specification into an operating facility within the realities of the local market.
“We don’t just need to build faster,” Corral said. “We need to integrate earlier.”
Corral appeared with Alejandro Cantú of LBS Power Solutions and Rafael Morales of IAec. Iván Martínez, national and international coordinator at AMERIC, moderated the discussion.
Because data centers require greater power density and increasingly sophisticated cooling systems, project teams need to account for more than the arrival of major equipment. Foundations, site access, installation paths, piping, cabling and the electrical and mechanical interfaces between systems all need to be resolved early enough to support the schedule.
That is particularly important when traditional HVAC systems must work alongside liquid-cooling requirements for newer generations of servers. A small unresolved activity can disrupt the performance and sequencing of the entire facility.
Corral said project controls, engineering, construction teams and vendors need to work from the same plan before design decisions harden into field constraints. He pointed to design-build delivery as one way to bring that coordination together earlier in the process.
Making Quality Part of the Modular Process
A second panel, “Modular Construction 4.0: How Manufacturing Is Redefining Quality in Construction,” explored a related idea: quality in modular construction cannot be treated as a final inspection.
Carlos Estrada, Haskell’s Director of Safety for Latin America; Irvin Sandoval, Haskell Modular Quality Manager; and Gerardo Medina, Haskell Modular Preconstruction Manager, discussed how a consistent quality culture improves the work at every stage, from preconstruction through manufacturing and installation.
That discipline is especially consequential on modular projects. Components and systems produced in a controlled environment must fit together, meet performance requirements and arrive ready for efficient installation. High-quality outcomes depend on daily decisions, not just on a final check before delivery.
TechWeek discussions gave the Haskell team the chance to hear directly from manufacturers and suppliers serving the mechanical, electrical and plumbing markets. Conversations on the exhibition floor focused on industry developments and potential partners for conduit and connection solutions.
Together, the two panels addressed a common challenge. Whether a project involves mission-critical digital infrastructure or off-site construction, success depends on addressing complexity before it reaches the field — through early coordination, clear execution planning and a quality mindset that carries through the work.
