JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Wyoming Military Department has selected Haskell’s Federal Division for the design and construction of three facilities at Camp Guernsey, Wyoming. The projects contain a specially designed General Instruction Building along with a 110-bed enlisted barracks and a 400-person dining facility, totaling approximately 111,755 SF of new construction. With plans for construction on state land and design to meet all applicable local, state, and federal building codes, Haskell and the Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) will ensure that the integrity of the historic district (Camp Guernsey Cantonment Area) is maintained.
The new project will be constructed for the 213th RTI of the Wyoming Army National Guard (WYARNG). The new center will be capable of supporting all manner of training and operations for all state and federal missions, including Camp Guernsey’s mission to facilitate realistic combat training for current and future American warfighters.
Haskell's 2016 acquisition of Benham, with its more than 100 years of successful project design and delivery, brings together two firms widely recognized for their pioneering and innovative approach toward integrated design and construction delivery. This unique combination of resources from Haskell and Benham offers unparalleled expertise to the Wyoming Military Department and Camp Guernsey, providing facilities safely, on time and within budget while meeting all the requirements provided.
“We are eager to work on this exciting project that supports those that serve our country, especially working together with a client that is a firm believer in the benefits of the design-build delivery method,” said Mark Higby, Haskell’s Division Leader-Federal Government.
Haskell’s design solution celebrates the military history of Camp Guernsey with exterior features that consider the adjacent historic buildings and through the creation of both exterior and interior spaces that allow for display of military equipment and materials. Construction will include all utility and information services, fire detection/suppression and alarm systems, roads, concrete sidewalks, curbs, gutters, storm drainage, parking areas, and site improvements. Through improved building envelope and integrated building systems performance, the facilities will be designed to a minimum life of 50 years while meeting significant energy efficiency standards. Access for individuals with disabilities will be provided.
Design is underway with an anticipated construction start in late 2017, and completion near the end of 2018.
