Nominated for his humility, thoughtfulness, can-do attitude and follow-through, Aaron Holtz, Manager of Business Development in Haskell’s Water Division, has received one of three Living the Values Award for the fourth quarter of 2021.

“Aaron lives the Haskell values each day he walks into this office, which makes him a delight to work with. He fosters a culture of patient leadership and always puts the needs of others first,” says Judy Deshler, Director of Marketing/Planning and Development in Haskell’s Infrastructure & Transportation Group.

Holtz has been with Haskell since October 2018 and works from the Jacksonville, Florida, headquarters and Haskell’s Fort Myers office. He describes his role as part sales, part customer service, part educational, and part after-sales support. He enjoys the uniqueness and variety of the role.

“I initiate contact with potential clients, learn about their upcoming water-related projects, and explain the benefits of working with Haskell,” Holtz says. “Then I engage a team of engineers and construction personnel to submit proposals. Hopefully, we win the project. Then we deliver with excellence.”

“It’s a unique and fun position. I’d say I’m a Jack of all trades, master of none,” he adds laughingly.

He may not think he’s a specialist, but his role is pivotal.

“Aaron continually finds ways to contribute to the success of the Water Division,” Deshler says. “During the final days of a proposal, he can be found staying late with the marketing team or driving to hand-deliver everything to the client. Aaron always sees his pursuits through to completion and stands by the team every step of the way.”

So, what does Aaron enjoy most about his job? He says it’s the people.

“That’s why I get up in the morning,” he says. “I don’t have a background in engineering, architecture or construction. I came to Haskell from the automotive industry. But I really enjoy learning about this industry, and I get to work with a wide cross-section of people.”

Holtz says Haskell’s Core Values of Team, Excellence, Service and Trust are an inherent part of each interaction, each project and each day.

“That’s not just among my colleagues,” he says. “We also look for those values in our clients. We actually practice what we preach.”

While Holtz calls receiving a Living the Values Award “a fun surprise, for sure, but also very humbling,” his nominator describes him as a quintessential candidate.

“He goes out of his way to help others, providing words of encouragement and lending a helping hand whenever needed,” Deshler says. “He treats his coworkers and our clients with deep respect, recognizing the unique expertise in everyone at every level. He also adores his wife and two daughters. He is the kindest and most genuine person I’ve met.”
