In a distinctive new facility, Orlando Health consolidates all of its neuroscience services under one roof.
Orlando Health provides care in over 100 healthcare specialties and operates the only Level I Trauma Center in its hospital service area. When the health system sought to consolidate its seven neuroscience specialties under one roof, Haskell responded with a clear vision for the Orlando Health Neuroscience Institute, a three-story, 45,000-square-foot building with a system designed to improve clinical workflows and increase staff time with patients.
The building was designed in conjunction with Orlando Health’s Energy and Sustainability Task Force and features a glass curtain wall system on the north side of the building that capitalizes on available natural light. The interior lighting system complements the curtain wall by automatically dimming when natural light is strong to reduce lighting energy costs by 15%.
Orlando Health engaged Haskell as its design-builder, and the two collaborated closely throughout the project.
Haskell mitigated challenges and ensured success by conducting all programming, design and construction. The team collaborated with Orlando Health stakeholders throughout to ensure that the project met Orlando Health’s requirements. As a result, the Orlando Health Neuroscience Institute provides clinical support, pain management, neurology programs and neurosurgery in new procedure suites. Also included are the Spine Center of Excellence, a multipurpose lecture hall and an integrated rehabilitation facility occupying some of the shell space built for future expansion. The building was named Project of the Year for Healthcare Facilities by the Design-Build Institute of America Florida Region.
Haskell delivers a facility that becomes the healthcare industry’s new standard on “Institute Row” in Orlando.
With over 100 professionals dedicated to the healthcare market’s specific needs, Haskell’s Healthcare Planning, Design and Construction team worked to deliver a facility that becomes the newest “gem” on “Institute Row.” It joins the Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute, the Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute, the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute and the Orlando Health Cancer Institute.
