St. Peter’s Hospital Expansion

Albany, New York

Raising standards of surgical care.

Haskell teamed with hospital administration and leadership to identify the needs for a major campus reorganization, responding to the client’s desire to expand and upgrade facilities to meet current operational demands and anticipated future utilization. The resulting master plan reorganized the facility along areas of clinical excellence and recommended a new inpatient pavilion. This recently occupied facility replaces all existing operating rooms with state-of-the-art facilities, including two hybrid ORs that integrate imaging and surgical procedures.

Responding to the rising standards of surgical care.

The lower two floors of the new pavilion include a dedicated cardiac and vascular surgery suite with eight oversized operating rooms and associated pre-op, recovery, and support space located directly adjacent to the CVICU and step-down cardiac units. This floor also houses two new state-of-the-art hybrid ORs with overhead C-arm x-ray equipment and dedicated control rooms.

The second floor provides for a surgery suite with 16 operating rooms, a 32-bed perioperative/stage 2 recovery unit, and a 20-bed recovery unit. The original surgery suite on the second floor was renovated into a new, 24-bed intensive care unit.

Additional renovations to the existing intensive care units in the adjacent wing bring the hospital’s entire surgical and critical care space up to modern standards.
