Tiger Academy Elementary School Campus

Jacksonville, Florida

We created a campus to support learning and teaching.

Tiger Academy, a YMCA charter school, cultivates students through rigorous academic standards, character development, personal and social responsibility. In addition, the school provides enrichment and support services to its students, who range from grades pre-k through five, and their families.

We tailored grounds and facilities to fit the school’s unique approach.

The project included design, construction, interior design, furnishing and site work for a 32,650-square-foot, 6.6-acre campus for 306 students. The main building includes 14 classrooms, administration, a media center and a public conference room. The second campus building, which houses a cafeteria/multi-purpose room with a stage and warming kitchen, connects to the main building by a covered walkway.

Our safe schedule acceleration bypassed business as usual.

We performed the site work while applying for building permits to speed up construction. Then, rather than wait for the typical inspection call-in process, we self-performed concrete work and structural steel with a hired, third party inspector. The result? We gained occupancy clearance 14 days before the contracted date giving staff and teachers more time to ready the school for its first students.

  • 32,650 SF charter school with 306 student stations
  • Project scope included design, build, interior design, furnishing and site work
  • Cleared for occupancy two weeks prior to contractual obligation
