The U.S. Navy needed an unmanned vehicle research and development facility that could accommodate multiple simultaneous projects, encourage collaboration between scientists and engineers, and serve as a demonstration command center. Haskell's custom design, build, and contract services made their vision a reality.
Cost savings didn't undermine engineering value.
Haskell's team worked with navy personnel to stay on budget without compromising smart design. The project incorporated several phases of construction under a single contract, including a five-year maintenance program. The design and construction teams worked together to ensure the building's overall functionality.
A mission critical facility required specialized design.
Equipped with a bridge crane, water tanks, a dock, hoist, and boat ramp, the facility provides a seaside testing environment with moveable partitions and elevated access floors that encourage cooperation. Customization across the entire project allows scientists to focus on their own critical mission: to further develop unmanned technology.
As the end user, I thought the design/build/maintain model got us a fantastic building.
