Bringing ultra-modern production to century-old structures.

With two high proof spirits distilleries planned on a historically protected site, Bently Heritage Distillery needed modern production environments that could meet the company’s growing ambitions. They trusted Haskell’s ability to minimize capital expenditures without limiting production efficiency to ensure the company could begin producing innovative spirits as quickly as possible.

Haskell’s design-build contracting got production planning flowing quickly.

A design-build contracting arrangement allowed installation design and procurement to get underway quickly and freed the busy start-up to focus on business planning and operations rather than high-risk production processes. With four independently operating distillation systems, the production of the distiller's single-malt and American whiskeys, brandy and clear spirits is driven by a complex network that includes more than seven miles of piping, over 80 vessels, and both traditional and nontraditional aging environments.

Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) prevented costly conflicts.

The density of piping and equipment in these historic buildings made accuracy critical. Haskell’s VDC group integrated models from all disciplines to ensure the constructability of the building and processing systems prior to installation. This conflict resolution process identified hundreds of conflicts prior to encountering the impacts to time and cost in the field. Haskell has helped the distiller infuse a national landmark with 21st century infrastructure that will set a new standard for sustainable production.
