The Haskell Company was selected by Banta Corporation to design and build a 260,000 s.f. distribution center for Banta Packaging and Fulfillment in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

The new distribution center is connected to an existing Banta printing and bindery facility by a 500-foot, enclosed, concrete tilt-up corridor that allowed for a 30-foot grade change between the two buildings and provides direct equipment and personnel access between the two operations. The new facility distributes products of Hungry Minds Inc., formerly known as IDG Books Worldwide, publisher of the acclaimed For Dummies® series and many other best-selling book brands.

The 33-foot-clear facility consists of structural steel, joist and girders on load-bearing, tilt-up wall panels and an ESFR fire suppression system. The distribution center is designed for future expansion capabilities without interrupting existing operations.

The building is ventilated at four air changes per hour, using roof-mounted, high-volume fans to provide comfort in the summer and accommodates winter climates with gas-fired, makeup air systems.

Haskell completed the new facility's construction in less than four months.
